Francis family private vehicle restoration

Purchase a 1966 Ranchero with only 79137 actual miles on it.

I am the 2nd registered owner of this vehicle. The original owner purchased it new in Oklahoma and drove it to Alabama and when he passed away he gave it to his son who just let it sit and rust never drove it or did anything with it. Then one day a kid that lived across the street inquired how much he wanted for it and he told the kid that if he got it running he could have it. So the kid worked on it for a while and got it running somewhat and the man gave it to him the kid could never get it running right and finally gave up on it and I bought it from the kid for $500. So far I have put a Holley 4 barrel carburetor and Aluminum intake on it, retuned it and cleaned the gas tank and lines. The vehicle purrs like a kitten now. The motor will need rings soon it does smoke some. As you can see the old man and son did not take care of the vehicle. I have also purchased the floor pans and both quarter panels for it. So all I need now is a little time to start working on it. Here are some pictures of what it looked like when I acquired it. It still has the original 289 motor with all the little aluminum tabs still on the Carburetor and the rest of the motor. As I said the car is all original only missing one hub cap.

July 2012 I did a little work on it today the dash was not working and the speedometer was not working so I fixed them and then worked on the choke some because it had trouble starting up after it sat a few days. Also getting ready to pull out the 289 motor and drop in a 351W bored .060" over.

Here is the Original 289 motor

Here is the 351W engine swap I did

I finally started repairing the body rust. Here is what I accomplished so far.

Here is a few pictures of the Power brake conversion

More to come
